| Latest Catalyst disables X600 resolutions Johns 04:06:01 |
| | I downloaded the latest Catalyst driver and did a
clean install. Works nice, but I no longer have
resolutions like 1280 x 800 ... which in the case of
my LCD monitor is directly proportional to the
native resolution of 1440 x 900, but gives a more
readable desktop. Is there any way to restore this
1280 x 800 to the options in Catalyst Control Center?

A rock 'n' roll show by the original drummer for The Beatles landed an
Athens club owner a date in court after complaints that the music was
too loud.
Pete Best and The Pete Best Band were playing outdoors Sunday night at
Loco's Deli & Pub, a nightclub in this college town famous for
launching the careers of bands like REM and The B-52s.
Police showed up with a citation for the club, saying a neighbor had
complained that the music was violating the county's noise ordinance.
Because Loco's owner Jamie Loftin has been cited for noise before, he's
headed to municipal court, where a judge will decide if he should pay
more than the usual $144 fine.
"We respect our neighbors and try to do things by the book, so it's
disappointing when you try to do that and still can't make everybody
happy," Loftin said.
According to the Athens ordinance, noise before 11 p.m. is too loud if
it can be heard 300 feet away.
A drummer, Best played with The Beatles until 1962, when he was
replaced by Ringo Starr.

DDR,250GB WD Sata hard drive. Can't really afford the 7800 or 7900.7600 too

I have a X800GT card for nearly a year and seems to me their quality is
still not as good as the real ATI.
The fan makes a horrible noise seems like the motor bearings are worn out, I
had a real ATI before
and they never had this problem. Is it hard to replace the fan heatsink and
what brand do you suggest?
I will never buy Power color again this is not the first bad card I have
had.

| | I have an fx1000 video card "in the mail". I plan on running 1 acer al2416w
monitor with it at 1920 x 1200. Do I need special cables to run 1 monitor at
higher resolutions? Do I need to run the cable to one specific dvi output?

| | I have a problem with the fan on my videocard, the card is a GeForce
6600LE.
I first noticed the overheating problem yesterday when i played wow,
the game froze and I had to reboot. After the reboot I checked the
temperature on the GPU core and it showed 140 C. I opened the case and
the fan on the videocard DIDN'T spin. After i cleaned the fan it
started spinning again (not mutch dust). But now the temperature on the
GPU core shows 66 C when im not playing, i tryed playing warcraft III
for 15min then the temperature went to 80 C.
Thats not normal right?
So is my videocard fan broken though it i spinning???
(I have one case fan)

I have a 17ins Philips LCD monitor model 170B4.
I use 'Display Properties' / 'Screen Saver' / 'Power' / to set the time
period to Turn Off Monitor to 10 Mins (or whatever). After 10 mins of
inactivity, the screen goes blank. The inset light in the On/Off button
changes from green to orange and the message box 'ATTENTION / ENTERING SLEEP
MODE' is displayed on the screen. So far so good. But after about 1 sec the
inset light changes back to green, and the message box 'ATTENTION / NO VIDEO
INPUT' is displayed on the screen, and the screen stays powered up.
What should happen is that the inset light should stay orange and the screen
should be powered off.
Not sure if this is a monitor / video card / BIOS problem. I have another
identical monitor which exhibits the same problem.
Running XP, SP2
Latest versions of drivers from Philips (1.0.0.0)
ATI Connect 3D Radeon 9600 128M with latest driver (8.231.0.0)
Any help appreciated.

Last time i wanted to update drivers to my Radeon 9550 to the newest
version. I downloaded Catalyst 6.7 and intalled is, as described
(previously i uninstalled all ATI programms and drivers). But after
restart, screen resolution was 640x480x16. I tried to change the
resolution, but without any result.
I uninstalled drivers and downoladed older. The same problem was with
Catalyst 6.6 and 6.5. Finally i tried Catalyst 6.4, and now everything
is OK.
What is going on with those newest versions of Catalyst drivers?
My card is Radeon 9550 128 MB, Mainboard Gigabyte GA-7VAX, AMD Sempron
2400+, Windows XP SP2.

I am trying to use my TV ONLY as the display for a computer with an
Nvidia GeForce4 MX $20 card. I am using the S-Video out. One Tv i tried
has the S-Video built in, the other has the composite for which I use
the adapter - All of this seems fine except when the flat panel monitor
is unplugged. I have Media Center installed on this box and want to set
it up with my TV and Stereo system to use simply for entertainment (TV,
Music, Video, Pictures). I can only seem to get the output to the TV
when the monitor is attached to the computer. Otherwise I just get a
blank screen. I have tried a number of the settings within the driver
software but as soon as I pull the Flat panel connector out and reboot
I get a blank screen. Does something in the BIOS need to be configured?
OR am I just missing some simple settings or configurations.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

| | I have a PNY GF4 Ti4400 that I'm using in my Athlon64 system
till my 7600GT arrives. I also have a legacy Win98SE/DOS box that has
a Voodoo5 5500 AGP. It's an MSI MS-5169 mainboard. The AGP slot is
3.3v. The Voodoo 5 is ok, but It seems to be unstable with alot of
games (all are older Win95/98 era). Even using original 3DFX drivers,
or tweaked newer 3rd party. I'm thinking that it must be something to
do with the Win98SE updates. I've tried only using DirectX 7, and not
updating it to DirectX 9.0c, but still no fix.
Since the only thing I'd be missing is Glide compatability, I
would rather try the GF4 Ti4400 instead. Does anyone know if the GF4
Ti4400 would work in a 3.3v slot?

My 6600 gt , when i check its display settings does not show this res
setting as a option , is it likely that when i attach a digital display ,
the options will open up and offer more choice !!?!?!? or does it looook
like i need a new graphics card....?!?!
the card will go upto 2048 x 1536 , but the nearest i have with my crt
display attached is 1600x1200.
Any one offer some words of wisdom on this matter?!?!!?
