| What Radeon is the equivalent if the FireGL V3400 ?? Synapse Syndrome 12:49:20 |
| | The FireGL cards are basically the same hardware as the Radeons, but with a few little hardware differences possibly and they are unlocked for the extra abilities that the FireGL drivers provide.
So what is the equivalent Radeon to the FireGL V3400?
These are the V3400 specs:

| Display problems with Apple Cinema display The Dave 3000 04:36:58 |
| | I have a 23" apple cinema display connected to my PC running an ATI Radeon 9800 graphics card. The monitor works beautifully and is plugged into the DVI port on the card. I am running the monitor at 1920x1200 resolution in Windows and it looks fantastic. When checking the display properties in the card I see that I can ramp the resolution all the way down to 640x480 - and when set to this mode works just fine with the monitor.
Here is the problem...
At bootup, the Apple Cinema display will not display the Windows XP boot up screen. Instead, it just goes through a phases of alternating dark screens and the first image I see is the blue "welcome" screen inside Windows XP and then the log in screen. Why this is a problem is because it appears I can't see anything at a resolution lower than 640x480. The boot up screen and the disk utility screens for windows (chkdsk /f) are set to 320x240 I believe. That means if I run a chkdsk /f I cannot see any of the activity on that screen at reboot. More importantly, when I updated to new video drivers it left me with only a dark screen. I had to connect the PC up to a CRT manual before I could get an image and set the settings back to a display setting that would work with the apple cinema display.
3 questions:
1. Has anybody else experienced this and know of a work around? 2. Is this a limitation of the monitor or of my video card? 3. Does anybody know if Vista is going to also utilize low resolution screens at boot up in 320x240 mode?
Thanks in advance for any help/info you can offer.

| DVI problems (pulling hair out on this one) Rising-Star8471 01:49:45 |
| | Two ATI cards with the same issue:
1. x700 pro 2. radeon 9650
Problem: DVI connector will only work under the following conditions:
1. Windows is in Safe mode
2. On startup, all the way to the windows log on screen, then I loose signal
Solutions tried:
1. Disabled all USB support in BIOS 2. Running latest cat. drivers from ATI 3. Uninstalling card, running in standard VGA mode and reinstalling card 4. Trying differant screen res. to see if its a refresh problem or a res problem 5. Have latests .net from windowsupdate.microsoft.com
Monitor is a Norwood Micro 19", no driver disk came with it and Compusa says standard windows drivers should work fine.
Cat. control is set to 1024x768 @ 60Hz
Standard VGA cable works fine under all conditions, I just want to get the full benifits from my card(s)
Any thoughts or ideas will be appreciated, thanks for your consideration

| tv tuner on older aiw Guest 21:21:16 |
| | Hi everyone, I'm on winxp pro sp2 stripped to the bones with directx 9.0c, equipped with aiw radeon 7500, its own drivers, and mmc 7.5 just set up very well. I can not find a workaround for my ati tv to work. It always says tv player failed to initialize the video. The drop down video capture source list shows no default, driver is listed as unsupported, but system compatibility check DOES NOT says something about problems encountered. I checked all other mmc features and they work just very fine: dvd, player and cd. I enabled DCOM features on my computer, too. Where do you think the problem resides ? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

| Omega Drivers Cookie McCrumble 20:36:35 |
| | Are they worth using for the GF4 TI4200?
Using the newer nVidia drivers (66.93) at the minute, bringing in about 1462 on 3dMark03.
Would I expect better performance from either an older driver or the Omegas?

| Cheap PCI card for dual/multi monitors Bazzer Smith 13:58:00 |
| | Looking for a cheap Radeon PCI card, but quite frankly I am baffled my most of the 'techno blurb' currently my graphics are on board Radeon Xpress 200, and I would like to know what would be a 'suitable' dual port/monitor supporting card would be to switch to. I am not a 'gamer' I just want to use two or more monitors without spendng a fortune. Obviously I would not want anything which would produce a noticable degradation in perfromance, however I don't even know if my onboard graphics is actually doing much work anyway. (I am not to sure what they actually do anyway.) I am just a general PC user, does watching video or watching digital TV on my PC put a 'strain' on the graphics card, or would my 8 year old PC with a cheap onboard graphics perfrom just as well (assuming it had the more powerful CPU, memory etc..of my new machine)?
Be glad if some one could point me to the appropiate model number etc.. (the model numbers are a mystery to me).
TIA

| Is it possible to get a Nvidia PCI video card and a Nvidia AGP video card to coexist? John W Blair 03:42:27 |
| | Hello,
I have an Nvidia G-Force 2 MX (PCI) and an Nvidia 7800gs (AGP) (that I just bought). I can't get both cards to work at the same time. One device is conflicting with the other. However, when I had my ATI 9800 Radeon Pro I did not have this conflict with the other PCI Nvidia card. I also noticed that I can get the two cards to work if I reinstall the OS (Windows XP Pro) but I do get the following stop errors quite a bit:
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=c888779d-6a8d-46f7-89aa-c341dad1c8b2&SID=11
After the OS (Windows XP Pro) is installed and if I remove one of the two cards (and the their drivers) I am not able to get the two cards working together again. However, both cards run just fine independently (with no stop errors).
After doing some additional research, I found the following thread that contains a similar problem to what I have:
http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t16800.html
They mention that Nvidia drivers conflict with each other and that if you are going to have a PCI and AGP card working together, that they both can not be nvidia cards.
So, it is it possible to get a Nvidia PCI video card and a Nvidia AGP video card to coexist peacefully? If so, how is this done?

| | We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the "seniors' special" was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $1.99. "Sounds good," my wife said. "But I don't want the eggs."
Then I'll have to charge you two dollars and forty-nine cents because you're ordering a la carte," the waitress warned her.
"You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?" My wife asked incredulously.
"YES!!"
"I'll take the special."
"How do you want your eggs?"
"Raw and in the shell," my wife replied. She took the two eggs home.

| AIW 8500DV driver, tc tuner and MMC Guest 14:16:27 |
| | Approximately once a year, I have to revisit this forum in search of the latest advice onthis 8500DV software. Today I wasted about three hours befotre finding the right combo. Every once in a while, the TV stops working entirely throwing an exception in ATIMMC.
What's pathetic is how the advice given by ATI is never right. The driver-MMX combo that finally worked was the MMC that has a note saying to use 9.0.2. I used it for a long time until the TV no longer worked. I had a problem with some other graphic software which said I should consider updating the ATI driver. I did that and the software then worked.
I suppose some of this comes from the innumerable Windows updates as well, the right hand biting the left if you will ;)
Installed the latest recommended Catalyst driver from ATI, 6.5.
Anyway, thing is back on the air for now thanks to advice I found here, to wit uninstall old MMC installing MMC 9.0.8 uci then MMC enu
it only wanted to reboot at the end, which I did. I'd have posted this in the same thread where I read the advice but the thread is locked.
I'm sure there are better graphics cards available but why change when this one does exactly what I need?
Thanks again!

These tapes do not have Macrovision, they play perfectly when the VCR is connected directly to the TV, and I can view or capture them perfectly with the AIW 7500 Radeon card.

| Asus v9180 Geforce MX 440 with AGP8x Blank Screen ANTISPAM garycnew ANTISPAM 13:31:12 |
| | What I am using:
Intel D850EMV2 Motherboard (w/ 1.5 V AGP4x) Asus v9180 Geforce MX 440 with AGP8x Video Card Windows XP (SP2) DirectX 9.0c
The computer will get past the POST and then right after the Windows XP loading screen it goes blank.
I am able to boot into safe mode (not safe mode with networking-it goes blank, too). I have successfully updated the driver with the latest ForceWare drive from the Nvidia support page. I have also tried the drive offered by Asus on their support page (an older version 8.1.x.x). Both of them exibit the same blank screen startup.
In safe mode, the Geforce driver is obviously not being used. The Safe VGA driver is used, so I cann't adjust either the display adapter or monitor settings in the control panel. I did try adjusting the DirectX synx speed to 60hz, but that resulted in the same blank screen startup.
I've tried booting up using VGA mode, but that exibits the blank screen behavior.
I am beside my self as to what the problem might be.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can lend.
Respectfully,
Gary
