| | Hello,
I have the Screen DT-S1030ai desktop drum scanner. I recently moved and re-setup my system. I have everything plugged in and turn on the scanner, and it seems to be "stuck" on Initializing. The LED screen reads Initializing, and has for over an hour. This usually only takes a minute or 2. Anybody have any ideas? Troubleshooting suggestions? Sites I can go to or someone/some company to call for Tech Support? I really appreciate any help,

I got a Scanmate 5000 Drum scanner and downloaded the trial software:
ColorQuartet version 5.2.2
from

I tried to do a scan job with the software but was prompted:
"No Scanner Found. Make sure the scanner is turned on and that the SCSI cable is firmly attached."
The scanner was definitely on, the SCSI cable was firmly attached and the SCSI card was working fine. So, what went wrong ???
Do I need to download other software like Scanmate 5000 driver (if there is such a thing)? If so, where can I get it?
Any advice or direction much appreciated.

| | Just to help someone with same problem. My Canoscan 8000F had a dirty backside on the glass from the factory. Which really gave me bad scans full of white specs on photos. To take apart, first lock your scanner head with the lock switch located on the bottom of the scanner. Then just lift off the top lid, the hinge posts just slide out/in of two little hinge post holding wells in the scanner.
To open for cleaning, take a Phillips screwdriver flip the scanner over and on the bottom back end there are two deep holes, each has a screw inside that has to be removed. Then flip back to the top and go into each of the wells where the hinge post slide in/out. Inside each is a screw that has to be taken out. Once you have those 4 screws removed, lift off the top back section that is dark grey color (you may have to gently pry along an edge with a flat screwdriver). Then grab the glass and slide it flat towards the back a little over an inch to clear front holder, then carefully lift out and clean the dirty thing. Put back together in reverse order, don't forget to unlock the scanner head with the bottom lock before you scan, and happy scanning. |

| | Hi, I have the same problem with the resistor R105 witch is badly burned so I still hope that someone will help me with the correct value of the resistor, it is easy to find the resistor, you take 4 small screws in the bottom of the scanner out and the control print is visible, the resistor is placed along the side away from the connectors

| | I use Adaptec + Kodak Film Scanner, Kodak Flatbed Scanner and Kodak LED Printer + PowerMac G4 400 MHz, 1 GB RAM, 20 GB HDD, + MacOS9 Ver 9.2. All connected over Ultra SCSI Connecters. I face a strange problem, It works intermittently and stops. There is an error in Photoshop to check for SCSI cables and Termination, And SCSI ID. I ran the hardware test on PowerMac G4 everything is fine and passed. The SCSI card is detected under Apple System Profiler. But no devices are listed here. I tried to reinstall the OS and SCSI drivers. It is of no use so far. Anyone who has faced simillar problems, kindly help me in sorting out this.
