I have been using it for years. I refill the Ink in the carts before they go dry and then run the NAOMI (SP?) Reset program for both the color and black ink carts.
The refill ink is ok, black is great, the refill color is ok for basic printing, if you have a print job that really needs quality, I still buy a new Epson Color cart, but if I am just printing a coupon from a web page, the refilled ink is satifactory. My biggest gripe is the refill RED ink never looks as good as New Epson carts.
Do a search on the web, plenty of Print Chip reset info out there. It is a few simple LPRINT string command send to the printer and it resets the chip. |

"ghost" - overprint previous text is possible becouse of defective heating element. check the fuser and clean heting roll. sometimes work but not long.

| | Hi. I'm a new pro photographer looking to be printing 300 8.5x11 photo pages per week when I reach {censored} work volume. I love print quality from Canon i950/i960 and OEM inks but I projected a $500/week budget for Epson Premium Glossy and OEM ink. So I went looking for alternatives. After much benchmarking and testing, I have settled on Hobbicolors bulk ink (man they are HELPFUL... thanks Dave!) and Costco Kirkland Premium Glossy paper. Instead of $1.50/page, my cost is maybe $0.15-0.20/page... wow. The color profiling is NOT THE SAME between OEM and ANYBODY ELSE's INK, so you must go thru Profile Prism (which I use) or some such to calibrate colors just like you want them. It is/was a lot of work but I figure everytime I spend an hour to refill 20 Hobbicolors tanks I just made $250.
Here's the really important part of this to a photographer. My prints are so cheap I'm not tempted to use an inferior print! I just keep printing things until they look as good as I can make them. That makes me and my clients happy. Sometimes I send my JPEGS to local labs to see how my prints compare to theirs. My prints are almost always better. Until I get a larger format printer (i9100 or i9900) I have to order 11x14s and up online (I use bigphotohelp, what a strange name). When I compare their prints to mine they are generally indistinguishable color/quality. Arriving where I am with printing required maybe 80 hr of my work and a pretty good eye. I don't miss those $120 visits to Staples to buy ink (I did a LOT of those before my switch). |

I tried letting the ink settle several hours before printing but so far I have only been able to get the magenta working... I am using stratitec's refill kit
