I'm running kernel version 2.6.13, xorg version 6.8.2. Video card is> asus/ati eax550, 256MB ram, with ati driver fglrx version 8.23.7.> [I'm getting some sort of error that causes the kernel to say "mtrr:> no more MTRRs available".]
Never seen anything like this before. What's the video chipset as reported by lspci? Does this error happen at a predictable time? Is there any context to this error, anything else in the output from dmesg that looks weird? Does this error prevent you from starting X, or using accelerated OpenGL?
I don't think the number of MTRRs is the problem. My laptop's using fglrx, (FireGL Mobility T2, evil module version 8.21.7, Xorg 6.8.2) and reports only 4 MTRRs in /proc/mtrr . Something else weird is going on.

No problems visible on install. Upon EVERY launch, I get googleearth splash, then X dies. Every time. Sony FE-590 laptop. Worked on ubuntu 6.xx whatever it was.
