While doing something else in "Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs", I noticed a listing under "Currently Installed Programs" something called "Intel(R) Sebring API" using 4,095MB! That's no typo! This seems like alot, and, though the machine works fine, I can't help wondering if something's amiss. Searching for files/programs yields nothing much; same with Internet search. Anyone know what's going on? - - - Rich M.
I asked winXP to remove it. Rebooted - now wireless radio is off and "cannot change powerstatus for wireless 802.11 radio". In my case it actually has an effect to remove it. But the 4Gig vacant space I should have had are nowhere to be seen...
The sebring client made by (intel)is the software that actually communicates between the hardware and Access Connections. Without the sebring client to transfer data between the two there is no communication.
He guys, thanks for this information. My 30GB on my Thinkpad R40 are almost full and i almost removed that Intel Sebring API thing because of it's size... Well since it is not that big afterall i'm gonna have to find something else to delete... thanks nik
Same here on my T40 - I am sure they can do something way better than 4Gigs of space in a 25 Gig HD!!! I mean seriously if that's what it takes a simple card might be a better solution, after all that's why Intel makes the Centrino chips with build in wireless!
I am lost here. Please email me if anybody figures out the answer. ed_vickery@hotmail.com It is definitely taking up lots of space on my hard drive and is not just a typing mistake
Yes... IBM Should openly declare in their site or technical specification of their Thinkpad laptops, that it comes preloaded with 'Intel Sebring API' of 4095MB, so that one knows that they can expect a bit lesser space than what they thought they would get. -RK.
My T43 also have this... Sorry...can anyone tell me Can i delete it..from the control panel? And would there be any problem if i del it? Is the Sebring API is abt wireless or wt??? Plx help.. Can mail to pan11810@hotmail.com
The Intel Sebring API is the interface between IBM Access Connections and the wireless card, if you remove it Access Connections will not be able to control the wireless card correctly. There will be no impact if you are using Windows Zero Config to configure your wireless connections as far as I know.
I removed the program and had no problem with accessing the internet via the standard windows xp network connections manager. Unfortunately, I can't seem to reclaim the 4GB of diskspace I was supposed to gain when I removed the program. C: properties says I have used 12GB, but if you highlight all of the files and folders on C:, it says it occupies only 8GB. I don't get it at all.
