Hello all - I have been having intermitant freezing problems with my keyboard mouse. Is there a reason as to why this is happening. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Have you guys successfully clone the HPA section ? I use IBM T40 and have the same problem as yours. I got two full pages of procedure from IBM helpdesk today, exactly same as what you have mentioned ... about the FWBACKUP.EXE and FWRESTOR.EXE However, it's sound absurd coz ... well, you have mentioned about the inability in creating IMGSET file from DOS environment to USB, CD-RW, local NTFS drive. Anybody who successfully done this ... please let me know or reply me to naurus@hotmail.com My problem are, I can't find those 2 files in the recovery section (after press F3), I don't have floppy drive, but I have docking station, and I need only HPA section not the rest of C: drive (coz you can move it back when you finish it, right ?) Thanks ... Naurus
i'm running into this problem as well. argh. i have a t42, port replicator & belkin 2-port omniview ps2/usb/audio switch (other computer is a home-built shuttle). the problem happens when my mouse (via ps/2 adapter) is plugged in [i THINK if just the keyboard and monitor are plugged in, everything boots up fine]. if this is so, i may just try ditching the ps/2 mouse adapter (since it's a usb mouse) and going pure USB off of it. gotta figure it out when i get home - will let you know how things go.
The symptons are Blank display. Hold a bright light over display and you can see very dull text when booting. Ok is it the Inverter or cable assembly. Maybe Maybe it is the little switch above the insert key that turns off the back light. It sticks. Use a pin to wriggle it ( or take off the keyboard bezel and bend it back). If any body wants and inverter (FRU 26P8413) or LCD cable assembly (FRU 91P6790) (adds a think light to FRU 91P6801) in as new condition contact me at m.kennedy at cqu.edu.au. I have some brand new ones that are not required and IBM won't take back. Thanks for the tip.
screen lights up,but no start up display and no icons... I installed seperate monotor and everything works fine...Is there something wrong with the screen or possiblely a seperate componet ?
I have the same problem. After many trials I understand that it is to do with the configuration of IRQ in the BIOS. However, I can't find any help from IBM and it is a shame.
I have one of these Thinkpad 600x machines. It's dreadfully slow compared to my AMD 2900+ desktop. Thanks for the upgrade info. I found some Intel Mobile PIII-850 MMC2 Modules at http://store.yahoo.com/alan-fm/pmm85002201aa.html inventory said they have 13.
i have a t23 that doesnt charge battery much thinkpad battery monitor says its only charging at 0.06A Its the same for either the normal battery or one plugged into the ultrabay Does anyone have a schematic of the t23 charge circuit? thanks
I found the same problem with my IBM Thinkpad X30 (2672-4JH) and my external drive enclosure with firewire/usb interface. I was hoping to get away without needing an external power supply but it simply does not work without one. Cheeers, Martin Cleaver (mrjcleaver)
You guys have been so helpful, I thought I'd ask a follow-up question. This same notebook was sold with a floppy drive and CD-ROM, but never with a DVD-ROM (even as an add-on) - but several other notebooks in the i-1200 series were. I've checked with IBM/Lenovo, and all they'll say is that they don't sell a DVD drive that will work in this machine, but they won't say why. I know that I can purchase a slim DVD that I can fit into the adapter for the CD bay, but what I don't know is if the video card or other circuitry won't support this, for whatever reason. If anybody knows the answer, I'd appreciate the info. Thanks in advance.
The power jack plug is a replaceable unit. It is mounted on the i/o board in the rear inside of the bottom case. You will have to take off the keyboard (two screws) removed then remove the ultra 2000 bay (right side), unscrew the pcmcia slot, unscrew the four screws on the fan heatsink, two screws on the speakers, one screw on the hard drive slot, remove the one screw holding the lcd plug in place, one screw behind the fan/heatsink, You'll need to unhook the cable from the i/o board to the motherboard, pull the motherboard up at an angle and out towards the front of the case. Unscrew the 6 bolts in the back next to all the ports. You'll need to unscrew one screw on the bottom side which helps hold the jack in place. Carefully pull the i/o board out of it's place. Examine it for broken clips on the bottom side. If they are broken, you have two choices, new/used i/o board or epoxy the existing one onto the i/o board. Reassemble in reverse order. DO NOT MIX UP THE SCREWS.
Before you start, remove all hard drivers, batteries (main and cmos), optical drives, pcmcia cards, etc..
I have an IBM thinkpad 600E 2645-4au with the same problem. The error code on the bios screen that first comes up is 08611. When the diagnosics on the motherboard is run it reports back dev 086 err 22 fru 0010. Is the problem with the keyboard and trackpoint unit or is this a problem with the system board's controller(requiring a replacement board.)? looking for info on this desperatly. any info is greatly appreciated!
