Scheduled Transaction List Always Sorts By "Next Date"

Mark Hatfield 10 January 2005 02:59:44
I have Quicken 2005 Premier Home and Business Release R 2.

I have noticed that the Scheduled Transaction List Always Sorts By "Next
Date" even when you check one of the other options.

You can change the check mark to "Sort By Description", but the next time
you go into the Scheduled Transaction List it will be changed back to "Sort
By Next Date".

I don't think you have it quite right.

First: you are right that if you tell Q2005 to sort the
scheduled transaction list by other than "Next Date", then exit
the scheduled transaction list, then open it again, the check
mark will be back alongside "Next Date" ... but the list will be
sorted by the option you chose. So that would appear to be a
small bug (having the check mark alongside the wrong sort
sequence).

If you change the sort sequence of the scheduled transaction
list, then close/reopen Quicken and look at the scheduled
transaction list, the check mark will be back beside "Next Date"
*and* the list will again be sorted by Next Date.

This behavior is not totally inconsistent with certain other
Quicken default behavior; reports for example always default to
the same sort sequence when first created.

I'm surprised you did not make your comments about the Memorized
Transaction list; unlike the Scheduled Transaction list, it does
return to its default sequence after you close the list.

I suppose the bottom line is that it's not clear that Intuit
intended sort sequence changes to become changes to the default
sequence.
