I am a programmer too, and you are forgetting one small thing about PilotGoOne: it works on all platforms using PalmOS version 2.0 or higher. It works perfectly on models with black&white display, or on models with a small display (like mine - Zire 31). It is great for solving problems, learning from joseki dictionaries and replaying professional games.
Java takes a lot of resources. Also, it is not implemented on Palm (at least on my Zire31).
C is a great language, probably you don't know that yet It is THE language. The most powerful one.
Of course, if you manage to create a new program to replay SGF files and to record them, it would be great. I would also want to try it But please don't say that PilotGoOne is bad - probably you don't know it well. And please remember (more like a life philosophy) if something is old and it's still used, it means that it is great, it passed the time. I'm sure you are using a mobile phone, buy you don't know that this technology is 30 years old... |

You start with X armies in the box (any number aggreed on, usually 70) and the rest go in a treasury (the banker's box)
you can only use armies in the box for reinforcements, if you don't have enough armies, tough luck
you don't have to put all reinforcements on the board, if you don't want to (Note: if you pass up rein., you can't get them back.
obviously, as people are killed, less armies are avalible. That's when the "penta" (also known as monopoly) part comes into play.
You make up a board (sure, you COULD use a monopoly board, but that wouldn't be fun)
Around 1/2 of the spaces should be properties EACH WITH A CORROSPONDING TERRITORY
EX: you connect the property "baltic avenue" to the territory, "conga" whoever owns conga owns baltic avenue
property rents come in armies (now you see the problem with a monopoly board?)
If someone dosen't have enough armies to pay rent, they MUST take from the board.
They can't leave a territory empty, unless they absoutly have to.
If there's a empty territory, you can have a auction w/armies to decide who can take it (obviously, the winner of the auction has to have a terr. they own next to it, with at least 2 armies.
To win: conquor the world
obviously this game is very rough and needs work, but it's fun.

With the last question: I don't know anymore if I stopped the action with a condition, and if, why I did so.
But surely the display should be 'OK. SPLASH! What a waste!' without 'You can't do that yet'.
