I want to make Yahoo my default e mail, when I click on the there link
(Yahoo) I get a message that says a small driver has been attached to my
hard drive and now Yahoo is my default, but I still get Outlook Expess as
default e-mail.
I tried a few times to correct this by diableing Norton and Zone Alarm, I
tried by useing IE 6.0 as browser, and un-installing Mozilla. Contacted ISP
to make sure Out look was configured correctly.
I just upgraded to a new computer, old computer was running same thing (XP
Zone Alarm Norton) as new and Yahoo was the default.
any ideas

required .DLL file, OLEACC.DLL, was not found.".
I think this might be connected to a 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g
Compact USB Adapter- because the trouble started after i installed this and
i get the same message error when i try to run the adapter software-
Wlan.exe. I tried reinstalling but this didn't solve the problem.
I tried downloading the missind dll and saving it but then on startup the
message said it was the wrong version.
I am running a windows98 system.
Any Ideas?

I have an unfortunate combination of a Samsung LCD display (710v) and
an
Asus mainboard with an integrated SiS 661 video adapter.
The display is designed to work at 1280x1024 60Hz and it works
perfectly
on other video cards.
The SiS 661 video card works perfectly at 1280x1024 with other CRT
monitors.
When I try to use them together the maximum resolution available in the
Windows XP settings is 1024x768.
If I erase the SiS driver Windows will start with his default VGA
drivers which allow me to use the display at 1280x1024 but the graphics
are slow.
I tried to download and install several drivers from SiS and Asus and
also to reinstall Windows but I always have the same result. I also
unsuccessfully tried to install different monitor drivers to try to
make
the video card think it's a normal CRT display.
Is there any way to override the driver settings changing values on the
registry?

| | Switched hard drives. Everything went okay; the computer found and installed
all the new devices; except the "Multimedia Audio Controller" I tried to
install the device manually; however it comes up with the error " The name
is already in use". I tried to install under safe mode and it was the same
thing. I've seen this error posted several times on different forums but I
have not seen a solution. Can anyone help! If all else fails I can always
reinstal windows Xp.
Running windows Xp Professional with the latest service packs. Latest driver
was downloaded from the Elite group web site as I am using the onboard
Audio.

Installing a HP 4100C ScanJet on Windows XP (so it actually WORKS!)
NOTE:

(LIKE I DID), YOU WILL HAVE TO FIRST UNDO WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY
DONE BEFORE GOING ON TO INSTALL THE SCANNER.

Some of these first steps are definitely unnecessary. But look folks,
all I know is this... I spent hours trying to get my HP 4100C scanner
working and nearly gave up, went back to Windows 98, or bought a new
scanner. Now it's working perfectly via the HP PrecisionScan
software, instead of that default Microsoft WIA monstrosity. If you
want the same end result, then humour me - do exactly the same steps
and you'll get exactly the same result, ok?
}
1. Click on START, CONTROL PANEL, ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS and scroll
down to where it says "HP PRECISIONSCAN LT SOFTWARE". Select it and
click the CHANGE/REMOVE button, then OK, and FINISH to restart the
computer.
2. Click on START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, and open WINDOWS
EXPLORER. Now click on MY COMPUTER, then select your C: drive. Look
for a SCANJET folder. Delete it if it's there. Also delete any
folders you see in the root directory of C: drive beginning with the
letters "sj". (These were created if you already tried to install the
udpates from the HP site.
3. Shut down (NOT just restart) the computer.
4. Unplug BOTH the USB *and* the power supply cable from the scanner.
5. Restart the computer with the scanner still completely
disconnected.
6. Go to http://www.hp.com and click on SOFTWARE AND DRIVER DOWNLOADS.
7. Select DOWNLOAD DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE and type "4100C" in the FOR
PRODUCT field and hit your ENTER key.
8. Click on your EXACT scanner model number.
9. Click on MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP and download these two UPDATES to
your desktop:
a. "HP PrecisionScan Scanning Software Destinations Update 1.0 (etc.)"
b. "ScanJet 4100C/Cse/Cxi PrecisionScan LT update - USB interface."
10. Click the back button of your browser and click on MICROSOFT
WINDOWS 2000.
11. Also download these two files to your desktop:
c. ScanJet 4100C/Cse/Cxi Precision Scan Pro LT software/driver
d. ScanJet 4100C/Cse/Cxi PrecisionScan LT Update for Undefined Program
Error 2117
12. You should now have four files on your desktop:
a. sj398en.exe
b. sj407en.exe
c. sj653mu.exe
d. sj700en.exe
(Note that if the HP site ever changes so you can't find them, you
could simply search for these file names.)
13. Double-click "sj398en.exe" and without changing anything, click
UNZIP and then OK. The PrecisionScan software will now begin to
install. Click NEXT, YES and NEXT. DO NOT change the default
installation directory. (Just leave it as C:/SCANJET.) Do the two
screen calibrations, then click NEXT to SHUT DOWN (not restart) the
computer.
14. Plug both scanner cables back in and restart the computer.
***DO NOT TRY AND RUN THE SCANNER YET***
15. Double-click "sj407en.exe" and without changing anything, click
UNZIP, and OK three times.
16. Double-click "sj653mu.exe" and without changing anything, click
UNZIP, OK, CONTINUE ANYWAY, OK and YES to restart the computer.
17. Double-click "sj700en.exe" and click OK twice.
Guess what - your scanner is now working - and you're welcome.

I have Windows XP Pro on a HP Pavilion AMD 1800 running many drivers with
VIA.
The PC came with 6 USB 1.1 (or 1.0?) ports that are working fine with my
mouse and a Lexmark printer. My problems started when I purchased a Cannon
scanner that supports USB 2.0 and most recently bought a WD 80 MB external
HD running also on USB 2.0
I added a USB 2.0 PCI card IEEE 1394 from a computer store on the box it's
marked "A-Byte" and (NEC) on the side. I tried the software for the
installation that came inside the box but it did not support Win XP.
I tried to download the driver from NEC site but it failed because it
requires XP SP1 and for my bad fortune I downloaded once a update for SP2.
I tried from the Add/Remove Software to remove the SP2 update (Hot Fix see
Q329115 for more information) but a pop up warned me that if I did so I
won't be able to use many programs on my computer. I stopped short & quickly
preferring to have the advice from an expert before doing so.
