| Trying to find Liteon LTN403 driver Genista 13:40:49 |

After putting a rather old machine back to life, I now have :
- 1 CDROM Philips writer, regularly installed (F ;
- 1 CDROM reader - Liteon 403 - which is recognized as (E by Explorer and
the system, but with no possibility of using it ("No disk in E.
Nevertheless, it was listed on booting (Drives : 2).
In the Config.sys file, there is (in Win 98se) an Oakcdrom.sys or a
Cdrom.sys declaration (a choice among two) from the drivers located in
C:\Cdrom\ - neither of them works, nothing changes.
Mscdex has been launched with Windows.
I have explored (to no avail) everywhere to find a relevant driver, but the
only indications that I have been able to find ar given by people who, like
me, are trying to find this driver ! Among them, on indication is the one
given by a user : "You must use the driver in Windows" - but, following
these indications, (C:\Windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys), I cannot find
such driver.
Where is the mistake ? (By the way, does such driver for LTN403 really exist
?).
One more detail : everything worked fine before I reformatted and
re-installes the hard disk, because of a fatal error in Windows which caused
the machine to hang when booting.

Aprиs remise "а neuf" d'une machine un peu ancienne, je me trouve avec :
- 1 lecteur-graveur de CDROM Philips bien installй (F ;
- 1 lecteur Liteon 403 reconnu (E par Explorer et le Systиme, mais sans
possibilitй de l'utiliser ("Pas de disque dans E. Il йtait pourtant
affichй au lancement (Drives : 2).
Dans le Config.sys, le lecteur (sous Win 98se) a une dйclaration de
Oakcdrom.sys ou de Cdrom.sys (au choix) а partir de drivers situйs dans
C:\Cdrom\ - aucun des deux ne change rien.
Le Mscdex est bien lancй avec Windows.
J'ai explorй (vainement) partout pour trouver un pilote, mais les seules
indications trouvйes sont celles de gens qui, comme moi, cherchent le pilote
! Parmi elles, une indication est donnйe par un utilisateur : "Il faut
utiliser le pilote de Windows" - mais en suivant ces indications
(C:\Windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys), je ne trouve pas la prйsence de
driver.
Oщ est l'erreur ? (Au fait, y a-t-il seulement eu un pilote pour LTN403 ?).
Un dйtail : cela fontionnait avant que je ne reformate et rйinstalle, а
cause d'un plantage dйfinitif de Windows.

grey (a non-colour LCD screen), but I can't access these grey levels
anywhere. Even greyscale bitmaps do not display correctly. What do I need to
do to use these levels, even if I have to create every colour scheme from

I have a HP Pavilion dv8000 Notebook. I installed WinXP Professional.
I am now having difficulty finding drivers. I am not sure what the
specific parts are, but after I go to "Device Manager", I find that I
have PCI and USB drivers missing. I have tried the CDs that come with
the computer and also the HP website, but I'm unable to find the
programs. Can someone please tell me what I should be looking for?
