| Freecom DVB-T USB 2.0 tuner and cardbus USB adapter Guest 16:43:02 |
| | I have a Freecom DVB-T USB 2.0 tuner which I wish to use with my Sony VAIO PCG-FX802 laptop which only has slower USB.
The laptop has up to date Windows XP Home and I have used a Belkin F5U222 Cardbus to USB 2.0 adapter installed with the latest drivers.
Unfortunately, when plugging the Freecom device into the card, windows reports "device not recognised". Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it worth tring another Cardbus to USB adapter or just give it up as a lost cause?
Thanks Allan

| Problem with 3Com HomeConnect and Yahoo Messenger Peabody 16:28:15 |
| | I'm running Windows XP and want to use my 3Com webcam with Yahoo Messenger 7. Actually, it seems to work, with one exception:
I can't adjust the camera settings - brightness, color, etc. The settings window comes up ok and displays the current settings, but the sliders and increase/decrease buttons don't operate.
So to change the settings, I have to shut down the webcam, and go into the VidCap app that installed with the cam drivers, make the adjustments there, shut that down, and then reopen the camera in YM.
I'm using the IONetworks drivers, which should be the latest.
Anybody else seen this problem, or have a suggestion to fix it?
Thanks

| USB Bandwidth + Webcams Octopus8 Net 02:23:02 |
| | I've been having problems with running webcams inconjunction with a PC CCTV system. I've found that I will have to buy USB2 controllers for each webcam because of the bandwidth they require, but there is something I have noticed.
If a USB2 controller has 4 external and 1 internal, you can run 2 webcams on the same controller if one uses the internal port or windows restricts the bandwidth. So if I buy 3 controllers and use the onboard one, that means I can have 7 cameras right?
Hope this works. Is this right?

| Philips SPC 900 NC ? Thierry Puydebois 14:23:43 |
| | Hi to all,
I'm very disappointed with my current webcam, a Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000. The image quality is poor. My brother as an old Philips Toucam Pro wich offers a much greater image quality.
I would like to buy a Philips SPC 900 NC that replaces the Toucam Pro (as far as I understand). Do you have opinions about this webcam, or links of websites testing it ?
Thanking you in advance,
Thierry

| Canon PowerShot A520 won't focus in Macro mode. The Seabat 06:43:38 |
| | Howdy: Keep trying to focus this thing in Macro. It will not do it. It just keeps zooming past the clear focus point. And for the life of me, I can not figure out how to use the manual focus. I have read the instructions, meager as they are, and it just won't focus manualy. Is this a bug in the camera or just me? Thanks for any help.

| Webcam chat software? @Home 03:16:50 |
| | I have been using a webcam and MSN to chat to a friend who is in Norway at the moment, quite often I get a message informing me that the network is busy, which causes video and audio problems. A work colleague gets the same problems when chatting overseas.
Are there any other software programs for PC that enable free webcam conversations between two users that may not be as busy?
I have tried Skype but it seems to be full of ads and other stuff.
Cheers

| HEEELP please ?!!! (new digi.camera) Evertonian 21:09:12 |
| | Can anyone please advise me on the the following problem.
We've just got a new Praktica-Pentacon DCZ 5.2 mega-pixel camera.
I've loaded the software disc, as per instructions, with no apparent problems. It's loaded 2 "Ulead" progs (Ulead Photo Explorer 8.0 basic & Ulead Video Studio 7.0 basic) ..... don't know if it has installed any drivers or software relating to the camera's operation.
I'm using Windows XP. When I connect the camera (as instructed) to the PC, via the USB port lead, I get (on the camera screen) the message "connected to computer", once the camera is turned on. Everything looking good, 'TIL the next step.
Here's where something is going wrong .......
A message appears on my desktop "Windows has detected a new USB hardware storage device" ( my camera, obviously) .... but, when I click on the message bubble it turns-off & restarts the PC. Usually, when I click on similar message bubbles, the hardware device in question is then installed.
I've tried using other, different USB ports on my PC ... after UNinstalling & re-installing the software CD, to no avail. I really haven't got a clue what's going wrong. We have some pics. already now, on the camera, but cannot transfer them to the PC ... as the camera (once connected to the PC & turned on) keeps shutting down & restarting the PC.
Any advice / information GREATLY appreciated.
Many thanks in advance, for ANY positive feedback !
Cheers.
A.B.

| Sony DSC N-1 - Any hands on reviews? Jay Arr 19:33:19 |
| | I might buy this N-1 to compliment my ageing Sony DSC-F505 which delivers stunning picture quality (as opposed to finger cutting resolution) with its puny 2megs and Zeiss lens.
The N-1 has no viewfinder because the screen is so large (3"). Have any users found this a serious drawback? Is it a problem keeping the camera fingerprint free with the touch sensitive menu screen? Does the 8meg memory provide appropriately quality images? How does it handle?
Would appreciate any first hand reports.

| Samsung LCD-tv series Evert 20:42:53 |
| | Hi all!
Who can tell me what the difference are between the various Samsung series? For example, LE-32T51B vs. LE-32M51B vs. LE-32R51B. Are there any large difference between these?
And how do they compare to, for example the LE-32M61B?
Regards, Evert

| Vcenter IP cameras Guest 00:32:21 |
| | IP Cameras - also called network cameras, Internet cameras, Ethernet cameras or Web cameras, are digital cameras designed to connect to an Ethernet network or to the Internet. Modern IP cameras such as ours do not even need to connect to a computer first, many have built-in Web servers that allow one to view what the camera sees simply by typing the camera IP address into their Web browser. With this standard feature of the Gadspot range of cameras, extra software is not needed, you simply assign a camera an IP address with the utility included with
the camera.

| How to program DirectvH10 for off the air reception Wahwahsam 07:40:44 |
| | I would really appreciate it if someone could help me program a DirecTV H10 receiver for off the air HD reception.
I bought the tuner used on EBay and the previous owner had it hooked up to a dish. He was not using it for off the air. When I reset the receiver, it went into the Guided setup and the only 2 options available are: Satellite and Antenna Satellite only.
There is no Antenna only option After I had selected the first option, it forces me to choose the type of dish Rounded, 2LMBs whaterver. Then it scans for dish channels and of course fails. I get the option to Fix later. When I click on that, it goes into a Program Guide set up screen and freezes. There is a progress bar at the bottom and it says it is trying to retrieve programming info. Nothing I can do at this point for it to exit and go to the next screen.
Wondering if there is anyone out there who has encountered this and what do I need to do to fix? Thanks in advance for your help.
