| Wanted: webcam s/w to produce hi res still images from VX-6000 LifeCam John Faughnan 03:04:58 |
| | For years I've wanted to be able to use a webcam to share line drawings (whiteboard, easel) with co-workers. I tried a Logitech webcam a few years back, but it fell short [1]. I could see what I needed however.
The Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 has the right hardware.
Now all I need is the software. I used to use ConquerCam [3], but the author hasn't maintained it in years. It maxes out at 640x480 images. I can't find anything really comparable.
I want to snap a hi-res [4] image every second or so and save it to the local filesystem. That's it! I'll just setup a web page to hold the image with a 1 second refresh and my coworkers will see my sketch in a readable fashion.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this? I wonder if it's a task I could outsource to a rent-a-coder. I have no idea though how hard this would be to do.

| Motorola L6 Blurry Photos? John Curtiss 03:49:12 |
| | This problem is beyond me.....
I take a photo, then the still image appears on the screen -- looks nice and crisp. Then I store it to the phone. Now, when I "go to pictures" and look at it, it is many times very blurry. This happens even if I hold the camera rock still in plenty of light. Anyone know how to save the same photo that is previewed?
Thanks in advance

| Camcorder as Webcam... Guest 17:28:01 |
| | Heya all. I've encountered a few problems when trying to use my camcorder (JVC GR-D250) as a webcam via a Firewire port (in MSN). It's not that it doesn't work as a webcam, it's just that it doesn't work properly. The camera's functioning fine, the colours are correct and everything, its just that when I actually try and use it in a video conversation or to start sending my webcam the image it shows is zoomed in, showing just a small area of what's actually on the camera screen. Okay, so the strangest part of all this is that when I look at my camcorder in 'Scanners and Cameras' or in the built-in 'Audio and Video setup..' function of MSN, the screen size is normal and it shows exactly what I see on the LCD screen of my camera, not just the small zoomed in/cropped area. Now, I know there's a lot of threads about this all over the internet, as I've been reading as much as I can to try and find a solution, however, they all talk about using programs, such as DVdriver, or webcamDV as a bypass sort of funtion to solve this problem, and, I've tried it. They both work, it's just that I'd rather not go about by using another program to solve the problem, instead I'd rather figure out why it's not working and see if there's any way to fix it...
Anyone got any ideas or know what's up?

| Motorola L6 Phone Problem John Curtiss 03:53:32 |
| | Now this all of a sudden....
I was using the phone just fine. Then I picked it up and tried to view a number in my address book. I got to the name, but when I hit "EDIT", it went back to the home screen. The lock features are not on.... can't figure out what happened. Now it works fine again, but really threw a monkey wrench into my afternoon when I couldn't access numbers or call out for a while. (Wasn't Cingular - this was a phone problem).
Anyone ever see this or have an idea of what caused it?
Thanks in advance.

| wharfedale on/off problems Michael Cadwallader 01:33:58 |
| | I have a wharfedale 26" widescreen integrated digital tv. A major and annoying problem is when the set is switched off it can take at least half an hour before it can be switched on either with remote or side switches. Any pointers as to how to remedy this, the set is out of warranty.

| Modern Nikon D-SLR camera that takes standard AA batteries Amanda Williams 09:01:02 |
| | I currently own the Nikon D50 but I'm sick and tired of the stock EN-EL3battery going dead after only a day or two on the road (I use the flash on every shot). Even carrying an extra EN-EL3a doesn't solve the problem as it goes dead just two days later, leaving me in the lurch not even a week into my trip.
It wouldn't be so bad to be forced to carry the bulky MH-18a Nikon battery charger everywhere I go when on vacation except that I have to also carry all the other different chargers my cell phones and those of my kids, my video camera, my computer, my PDA, my skype phone charger, my usb hub, etc.
It's just too many freakin' chargers. I'm trying to standardize on just AA and USB for all my hand-held electronics accessorites.
So, I'm ditching the Nikon D50 for a digital SLR that takes AA batteries. I found a few from Fuji and Pentax but none from Nikon. Did I miss something?
So, I ask: Is there a modern D-SLR camera from Nikon (one that takes AA batteries)? Or, at least a modern AA battery pack for the Nikon D50 D-SLR?
TIA, Amanda W.

If your computer is Windows XP you do not need any software to download the pictures to your computer. Just plug in the USB. Windows XP will have a Removable Disk that is the camera. Use Windows Explorer to transfer the images.
If your computer is Window 98SE, you do need an Autoconnect driver. http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_downloads.asp?id=953&os=w

| Satan and the evil Guest 13:21:07 |
| | The dialogue with you makes me fully aware of the origin and the nature of some dreadful phenomena of the modern mentality: the dissatisfaction, the uncertainty, the rebellion, the intimate unhappiness of the contemporary human beings. They have lost the deep, metaphysical sense of the existence, the meaning of their own life, the hope of any destiny. The Light illuminating all the environment has been extinguished, and all the men are going on like blind ones, looking for a point of orientation and support, getting cross at each other and embracing one another as at random.

| id VHS digital or analog? Mt 11:40:59 |
| | Hey, folks; I am a part-time video editor and have a bet placed on this question. Is the signal coming off of a standard VHS tape ( say a Blockbuster pre-DVD video rental movie) analog or digital?
I have had 3 people I trust say analog and one person I trust say digital (because the tape holds "pulses" which are digital, rather than "levels", which are analog?).
Any solution of this problem is desired.
Thanks in advance;
