| Nero causes system reboots Oliver Costich 14:04:19 |
| | Nero frequently reboots my system especially when reformatting a DVD-RW, starting a burn, or just finishing one. I have tried every conceivable fix. I used the completely removal and registry fix tool provided by Nero and reinstalled. I checked that I have the latest burner firmware. I checked cables, used different media, and everything else suggested by Nero. I then hooked up an external DVD burner and have the same problem so it's not the specific burner but both are NECs but different versions.
This is driving me nuts and Nero support is unbelievably bad. The turnaround on the original issue and a single follow up has been over a month and they have not responded to my last email of 2 weeks ago.
Anyone have any suggestions?

| Trouble writing dvds with Ricoh RW5240A Maria 13:23:33 |
| | I have the Ricoh RW5240A dvd-writer on my computer. Although I can read dvds (data & movies) and read & _write_ cds with no problem, when I tried to write a dvd for the first time, I had no success.
I tried with 3 different brand new dvds and with all of them the result was the same... I put the dvd in, the led flashes (like usual disk recognition process) and then continues to flash with the same speed ad infinitum! It seems to me that it doesn't recognize the media and I can't think of anything else to test.
Any ideas what to do? Maria

| converting anamorphic divx file to dvd None 09:42:13 |
| | I have a divx file which is 576x240 2.4:1 anamorphic and I want to convert it to dvd using tmpgenc (2.5). I did some tests by trying to keep the 2.4:1 aspect ration thinking I had to keep the aspect ratio but I was wandering why the image size was that small, so I found out about anamorphic and if I correctly understood it the image seen on screen for anamorphic encoded films should have a larger height.
What are the steps to convert files like this in tmpgenc (2.5). I tried some tests using destination 16:9, source 1:1 (VGA) and video arrange method full screen, but I don't know if it's correct. Can anyone give me the tmpgenc settings (steps) to convert anamorphic video files to dvds? Any other informations on anamorphic will be welcome, I'm I wrong thinking that my final video size (height) should be larger?
Thanks in advance

| nero/copy/dvd/iso Oskar von dem Hagen 07:39:49 |
| | Hi, I am trying to figure out whether nero 6.6 has problems with a dvd-r or whether daemon-tools have problems with an "nrg"-copy of a dvd.
Is it possible to copy a dvd (dvd-r, tv-movies, unprotected) to an iso-file using nero 6.6? I am only offered "nrg" as file format even if I enable all formats for the image recorder.

| Nero DVD burning audio skips Cal 06:19:26 |
| | Hi all. I am not sure where to post this. I hae been using Sonic (came with computer) for a while now and it works fine. I thought I would check out some of the newer packages.
I tried Nero 7 cause it has a free trial and while I was able to make a
nice movie, I am having trouble when I burn the DVD. I don't know if it is Nero, the media or newbie mistake.
This was a very simple slide show but the audio jumps a lot (mp3).
I burned it twice same thing.
Wrote it the hard drive and it seems ok.
It seems to play a bit better via DVD in the computer then my DVD player but still a bit jumpy.
Thoughts?

| Absolutely new to this, bear with me: which software to use? 24 04:01:34 |
| | I am absolutely new to this i.e. I would like to make a copy of my own DVDs. My question is which software do you recommend? I tried looking for it myself but my almost 63 year old eyes have seen enough of Google so it is time to ask for help. Is there one piece of software out there that does it all or do you need two or three programs? If there would be abything that can also backup files to DVD, that would be great. I appreciate any help I can get!

| Total Recorder John Woollard 01:56:19 |
| | Could someone help me with a problem with Total Recorder
I want to record radio programmes broadcast using DAB radio. I have connected a Pure Radio to the computer using a line in, and until recently I have successfully recorded programmes using Polderbits, saving the files as a WAV file and then burning them to CDs using Easy CD creator. This produces perfect copies
I have recently bought Total Recorder. The reason for this is it has the ability to schedule a number of recordings whereas Polderbits can only be set once.
Total Recorder works, but when I burn the CDs there are a random clicks and pops, and the recordings appear to have damaged the treble.
This all suggests that the problem is with the TR rather than anything else. Has anyone else encountered this problem and solved it?

I'm suprised that none of you has mentioned the MX850 or any of the Universal Remote "Home Theater Master" series. These are the choice of most custom installers in this area.

I am not sure why this is? In other words, I save the project as XXY and it tells me the Problem is : NAME OF REMOTE NOT SET and the name of the Problem is XXY. What did I miss?

| Convert Nero .nvc files to mpeg, avi, or something else? Help? Guest 09:32:08 |
| | Hello! I just made a slideshow with some of my photos using Nero. I did not realize that it would only save the slideshow in the .nvc format, and I can't find any options to save as anything else... I want to put my slideshow on the web but I don't think people will be able to view it in .nvc format. Is there any freeware or shareware or anything else that can convert the files from .nvc to something like mpeg or avi?? ...Or did I just waste an hour putting together a slideshow for nothing...

| Mpeg4 to DVD 360 07:43:51 |
| | I have an Mpeg4 file (note: NOT divx) which I have tried just about everything to convert it. No luck.
The only program that seems to play is Apple Quicktime...which makes me think it might be based on some propreitary Apple codec.
Any ideas on how to approach convert this into a DVD (VOB) format?
cheers

| DVDShrink automatic compression but too big for target Guest 06:53:31 |
| | I have DVDShrink 3.2 I tried to copy a DVD yesterday, and it said it said it was too big for the target (a 4.7 GB DVD-R). It also suggested I try automatic compression, but I already selected that. It showed 56.8% compression, so I tried custom compression with a lower value, but that did not work (it ejected the disc without burning, still complaining it won't fit). The source had a total of 196 minutes video. There are no alternate language audio or subtitles that can be edited out to save space. The DVD is from a German TV series (Hinter Gittern). I have copied 2 other discs from the same series that had more than 200 minutes of material, but it thinks this one is too big. I have also copied 3-hour movies to DVD-5 without a problem. P.S. I have tried another DVD copying program, but the quality was terrible (very annoying compression artefacts).
